The Fundamentals of Online Module Design and Development Module Content resource has been developed as part of a collection of Faculty Development Resources on educational technology related topics for teaching and learning. These resources have been created to meet the needs of faculty members, instructors and senior trainees. The overarching aim of these resources is to allow participants opportunities to build knowledge and skills that align with core digital competencies and key technologies related to teaching and learning. There are four modules in this collection: • Graphics and Images • Visual Communication • Intro to Ed Tech Models • Fundamentals of Online Module Design and Development Each of the modules can be used or re-mixed independently of each other. Module Design Each module has been designed as a self-paced, asynchronous learning module that can be completed independently by the participant in approximately 1.5 hours to 3 hours (depending on how in-depth the participant engages with each activity). There are approximately 8-10 topics in a module and each topic has an associated task-based activity that has been designed to be authentic and relevant to the participant. The content and related activities in the module have been designed as foundational knowledge and skills and as such there are no required pre-requisites for the modules. Module Delivery Format The module content is laid out in an accessible word document to provide faculty developers or individual participants options for how they wish to use the materials. Some suggested options for module content delivery include: • Module / course in a learning management system • Articulate Rise module (hosted in a LMS or a website) • Paper-based workbook • In-person or virtual workshop • Consulting / training resource for use with individual faculty members or groups • Stand-alone digital resources (e.g., videos, articles, templates) on a website Module Customization The content in the modules can be further customized with institution specific resources.en_US
