dc.description.abstract | Course Description This course provides a basis for legal and ethical issues of importance to graduates and specifically covers tort law, contract law, legislation regulating business organizations, employment law, and professional liability. The overall objective of this course is to begin preparing the student for professional designations and/or examinations. Learning Outcomes After successfully completing the course, you will be able to: Describe the Canadian legal system Discuss tort law and, in particular, negligence as it relates to professional liability Explain the basic components and requirements of contract law Define and discuss the legislation that regulates various forms of business organizations Discuss the rights, duties and responsibilities governed by workplace legislation in Ontario and Canada Define and discuss the concepts of ethics and codes of ethics Target Audience This course is intended for students in their second year of studies.
