Abstract: The main objective of this course is to introduce the basics of numerical analysis and the use of computer software (MATLAB) for civil engineering analysis. Topics include the derivation and numerical solution of partial differential equations using finite difference methods, numerical derivation and integration, solution methods for systems of linear equations, root finding, and error analysis. All problems emphasize engineering applications.
