Abstract: | UHN - University Health Network patients and families have defined what values are most important in their care - respect and dignity, compassion, accountability, transparency, equity and partnership. The values are outline in 'Compass for our Care, UHN's Patient Declaration of Values. This e-learning module will: • Define each of 5 core values most important to patients and families: Respect and Dignity; Empathy and Compassion; Accountability; Transparency; and Equity and Partnership. • Describe why the application of these values is important in the health care setting. • Outline the benefits to: patients and families; self; and the organization. • Demonstrate an awareness of the ways that these values can be applied in interactions with patients and families. By understanding and using these values in their work, learners will be able to communicate with compassion in healthcare. |
