Introduction to Mohawk Cultural Trades. The course will be both theoretical and practical as learners will become familiar with the history of three Mohawk traditional trades as well as learn the basic techniques in each art form. The course will consist of a step-by-step video tutorial on the Traditional Mohawk art of Moccasin Making, Beading and Basket Making. Traditional storytelling will be used for the theoretical component of the course as well as other learning materials. The course will include community experts and knowledge keepers as Subject Matter Experts. The course will serve as a resource to document and preserve the cultural trades. This course is not meant for non-First Nations People to commoditize on the skills taught. It is a learning experience created to share these sacred Mohawk practices to the wider community as a means of creating awareness on the importance of our traditions and culture. First Nations Community members who have always wanted to learn these skills will now have a resource to do so and the knowledge and skills can now be passed down to younger generations via this course.en_US
