Abstract: The Educators in Focus series features more than 50 instructional videos made by Ontario educators for Ontario educators as a way to inform their professional development, discover new strategies and implement innovative pedagogical practices.
In this video, Ontario educator Patricia Krijgsman explores how teacher librarians and classroom educators can empower their students through the selection, use and inclusion of diverse texts. BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colour) books focusing on themes of anti-racism, anti-discrimination, gender, religion, ethnicity, and student voice are also discussed.
