Abstract: Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass (1845) is a memoir and treatise on abolition by American orator and ex-slave Frederick Douglass. Considered to be the most famous narrative written by a former slave, the text describes—in factual detail—the events of Douglass's life. It was also one of the most influential works of literature to lend fuel to the American abolitionist movement in the the early 19th century.
