| Abstract: | Active Learning Design Foundations (ALDF) is a self-paced professional learning program that helps instructors explore, design, and facilitate active learning across diverse teaching contexts. Through three modules, participants examine the research and rationale for active learning, design learning experiences using methods, materials, and environments, and prepare themselves, their teaching teams, and their students for successful implementation. The program integrates Universal Design for Learning (UDL) considerations throughout and includes practical planning tools, reflection activities, and examples drawn from multiple disciplines, class sizes, and teaching modalities. Designed for higher education instructors, educational developers, graduate students, and teaching assistants, ALDF supports intentional, inclusive, and evidence-informed approaches to active learning. |
