Abstract:
The AI Guidance Gap: Teaching, Learning, and Trust When Answers Are Everywhere explores what happens when students have unprecedented access to AI assistance but still need clarity, judgment, support, and trust to use it meaningfully for learning. Drawing on higher education practice, student and faculty perspectives, AI literacy work, course design, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning research, the book examines the AI Guidance Gap across students, faculty, and institutions. It introduces an emerging framework built around Clarity, Transparency, Reflection, Judgment, and Trust, shifting the conversation from detecting AI use toward understanding and supporting the learning process.
