Abstract: The Educators in Focus series features more than 50 instructional videos made by Ontario educators for Ontario educators as a way to inform their professional development, discover new strategies and implement innovative pedagogical practices. In this video, Ontario educator Marla Zupan focuses on the teaching of social emotional learning skills (SEL) in the mathematics curriculum. She explains the six different components of this strand, which include managing emotions, positive classroom environments and forming healthy relationships. Practical classroom advice is offered to support anxious students who find mathematics stressful. The Educators in Focus series features more than 50 instructional videos made by Ontario educators for Ontario educators as a way to inform their professional development, discover new strategies and implement innovative pedagogical practices.
