Title: Working Together for Optimal Outcomes : The Occupational Therapist (OT) and OT-Assistant in Canada
Authors: Avvampato, Teresa
Keywords: Occupational therapy
Issue Date: 2023
Abstract: Effective occupational therapist (OT) and OT-assistant (OTA) collaboration improves client, occupational therapy and system outcomes. OT-OTA collaboration barriers exist in the Canadian context, influencing occupational therapy outcomes (Avvampato et al., 2022). OTs and OTAs have an opportunity to enhance OT-OTA collaboration and, in turn, impact occupational therapy outcomes.
In response to a need identified in an environmental scan, this resource was developed to support OT-OTA collaboration preparedness in the Canadian context. This resource shares foundational knowledge, skills, and attitudes to support OT and OTA collaboration.
This resource was developed for OTs, OTAs, educators, employers and others who wish to learn about the OT and OTA roles in Canada and to support client and system outcomes through collaborative practices.
