| Abstract: | Course Design Foundations (CDF) is a self-paced, asynchronous learning program developed by the Centre for Teaching Support & Innovation (CTSI) at the University of Toronto. Designed for instructors who are creating a new course or revising an existing one, the program introduces foundational approaches to course design, including integrated course design, the Inclusive Pedagogy Framework (IPF), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Across seven modules, participants examine teaching contexts and situational factors, explore inclusive and accessible teaching approaches, develop learning outcomes, design assessments and learning activities, and build coherent course structures aligned with intended learning goals. Workbook activities and reflection prompts encourage instructors to apply concepts directly to their own teaching contexts. The resource includes text, audio, and video content, supporting references and resources, and practical design activities that help instructors create learner-centred, aligned, and intentional learning experiences. |
