Abstract:
This course aims to provide an intermediate level overview of Blender as used in the Media Arts, through the development of a simple artistic project conceived and executed by media artist Omar Rivero. This course departs from where the Beginner course left and covers an intermediate level production path that includes: introduction to the user interface, hard surface modeling, modifiers, sculpting, material creation using texture maps, advanced lighting techniques, physics and fluid simulations, and final render of a 3D scene as a cinematic. Emphasis is placed on the use of the required techniques and processes that satisfy the desired artistic goals of the project without attempting to explain every detail of the used tools. In this way, Media Artists desiring to produce new work using Blender will get an overall sense of the whole process from beginning to end as experienced from the perspective of a creator.
