dc.description.abstract The need for skilled talent is critical in Ontario. With the construction sector thriving, occupations such as heavy equipment operators are in high demand. Employment for heavy equipment operators is projected to increase by almost 25% in southwestern Ontario and nearly 16% provincially within the next seven years. This project intends to support employers by filling the skills gap while providing engaging, relevant, and authentic learning experiences to ensure proper work preparedness of new workers. This 100‐hour micro‐certification is co‐created with employers, job seekers, and community agencies that represent vulnerable populations to create a pathway to success for employers and participants. Creating an asynchronous, open, free micro certification the program also reduces barriers to access and allows for rapid skills development, not only within our region but also across Ontario, Canada, and even globally. en_US
