Abstract:
The Teaching Observation Guide is a self-paced professional learning resource that supports instructors, mentors, peer observers, and educational developers in engaging with teaching observation as a formative, reflective, and developmental practice. Organized into six parts, the guide explores the purposes and models of teaching observation, preparation and observation processes, feedback and reflective dialogue, professional documentation, and collegial teaching cultures. The resource includes practical tools, templates, reflection prompts, and downloadable materials that can be adapted across disciplinary, instructional, and institutional contexts. Designed for higher education, the guide emphasizes trust, inquiry, reflection, and professional growth rather than evaluation.
