Abstract:
A comprehensive guidebook created at McMaster University to support instructors, Teaching Assistants, and those in other educational roles in applying design-thinking to short-duration learning contexts to enhance access for all. This guidebook is also meant to support anyone interested in generating a short-duration learning experience outside of the educational context. The book contains three parts: best-practice guides, content for a 5-day community-informed hack-a-thon, and mentor training modules to help individuals prepare for the mentor role. Topics in the best guide practice guides include Short-Duration Learning 101, Problem Scoping, Engaging Stakeholders, A Guide to Technology, Showcase Planning, Applications and Group Formation, and Navigating Time Zones.
